This product is a contraceptive device inserted into the uterus. It is composed of a frame with curved plastic arms, copper wire, and a nylon suture thread. Copper wire is wound around the upper part of the body to enhance contraceptive efficacy, and a nylon thread is attached to the lower part of the body so that the device can be pulled out during removal after implantation.

The copper of the copper wire increases the levels of copper ions, prostaglandins, and leukocytes within the uterus and fallopian tubes, thereby altering the environment necessary for fertilization. As a result, it reaches concentrations toxic to sperm and embryos.

It reduces the fertilization rate of sperm and eggs, lowers the viability of embryos formed before they reach the uterus, and prevents implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterine lining
